Hi,
For today, i am just going to comment on the dropshipper called Dropship Design. If you been a long time dropshipper, then you probably already heard what they are like, so you probably don’t need to read this. But for all those people that are thinking about dropshipping, listen in. Dropship Design maybe be one of those dropshippers that catches your eyes, when you are first introduced to them, I know I was. Maybe this is because of their seemly vast amounts of preloaded products, or their cheap subscription fee.
You pretty much just pay them for the membership fee and there you got your site with domain fully loaded with thousands of products.
Seems pretty good doesn’t it?
Well, first of all the site that you get is not really customizable, and their so called not marked up wholesale products, are marked up. I can’t confirm that but they are either marked up or they just don’t have good prices. There’s also a lot of talk about Dropship Design’s support or reliablilty being not so good. You can see a lot of complains on Rip-off Reports by unsatisfied users.
Then, again i shouldn’t complain that much, since they don’t really charge that much. Their renewal after your first year is only $49.99. Anyways, i’ll just finish off saying that if you thinking about seriously making money with dropshipping Dropship Design is not a good choice, but if you just wanted to get your feet wet with E-Commerce, you can take into consideration Dropship Design .

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackIf you don’t feel Dropship Design is that great then why have their link in your navigation? Oh, is it because it is an affiliate link?
Yes, I don’t believe Dropship Design is all that great. And that is an affiliate link too if you really want to know.
The Link at the Navigations will include legit dropshippers meaning not scams. But its for the individually t decide which dropshipper is best for their needs. For beginners that don’t want to spend a lot of money, Dropship Design is a reasonable choice to test the waters in my opinion. But to make big or decent money for your time, not so much.
Hopes this answers your question.

DropShipDesign is absolutely a scam. They lure potential members in with their one-time approximate annual membership fee that can range from $49.99 to $199.99. If an item is posted on EBay and sold the member must pay additionally to have the item automatically shipped to the customer( sham #1). If the member doesn’t buy this service he/she must purchase the product directly from dropshipdesign and ship it to the customer himself/herself, which creates lag time between the customer’s order and reception (sham #2). There is another charge if a member wants to have his/her website listed on a search engine such as Google (sham #3). In addition, there is a charge ($99 annual fee) if a member wants to contact dropship by telephone (sham #4). Without paying this charge the only alternative communication channel is via email. When a member purchases the high-end package (auction & website) which I did for $199.99, he or she is being lured into a deceptive purchase because their promotional ads insinuate that posting to EBay is included in the membership price. After the purchase I received a threatening offer to buy proprietary software, which supposely analyzes popular items that are sold on EBay and carries a $3100 value. Included in this $3100 value is a so-called “coaching” that guarantees the member will receive a break-even return of $3100. When I declined the offer the salesperson suggested that I was not motivated to be successful. He continued making innuendos until I defended myself and we entered into a boiling debate. I’d appreciate any member’s comments who have had similar experiences with DropShipDesign. These types of business tactics need to come to a halt. Email me at glewis2019@yahoo.com
I agree with a lot of the things you said. It’s definite not easy to make money with Dropship Design. It does have relatively lower annually fee than other dropshippers but nowhere as good.
As I mention before it still may be optimal to use it to test the waters, like try out some marketing methods but definitely not a big money maker or anything like that.
I would also like to add that the Auction package shouldn’t be considered. They are not that reliable in terms of shipping which could wreck your reputation. Also, when selling on Auctions such as Ebay you need very competitive pricing which Dropship Design doesn’t really have.
Hi
Im in the uk and purchased the dropshipdesign
combo package(the website and auction)for £120 in january2008, i looked at it when i purchased it very briefly and admittedly did not do my research, the prices seemed very high and the layout of the website was very basic,i immediately thought i had been scammed, i made no money ……..Until August 2008, the prices seemed more competitive in the uk(i dont know what prices you receive in the US) then when i last checked so i updated the site spent another £100 or so on advertising. the products seem to get better and people actually started buying products and being happy with them. many of my close friends and family used my website either as a trial for me(sympathy always gets you customers):) or out of genuine interest in certain electrical items which i stock(at very competitive prices)
i have now made about £700 profit so far in my first year!!!!! so like mentioned not a big big money maker but a very effective training ground for novices, i have learnt alot about online trading since and have now gone on to bigger and better things all thanks to this little thing that i thought was a scam.
i have also contacted other UK website since purchasing owners and overall they seem quite happy with it.
So thanks for all the problems that other people have posted, i think it may have helped them clean up their act. i dont know. maybe because the UK much is smaller then the US i think the service is more effective. i dont know.
Well, there you go, congrats on your success. Like I said it plausible to use it for testing the waters, but not a huge money maker or anything. I must say though that your results are even surprising to me. How much you spend on advertising?
This company is clearly out to rip off the public. They make promises about their service but when purchased they leave you high and dry. I stupidly purchased a package from this company believing that there was a guarentee of some sort. However, after having to wait 5 days for the package to be activated found the site a waste of time and money.
When I attempted to contact the company I found that they had no means of contact save through a link in one of their sub-domains (which was impossible to find, I could only find it through the help of internet forums). When I finaly did find the means to contact them it turned out to be an electronic ticketing system which they claim has a 24hr response time (really only a 72 hour response service). They were rude on the emails sent and very abrupt.
I informed them of the complaints I had and their response was that I should purchase an upgrade to fix the bugs on their basic paid package. After requesting a refund several times I was informed that if I wanted a refund I should have done so within 5 days of purchasing thier prackage. They had not even activated the package within 5 days.
I do not recomend this company to anyone. Not only is it a rip off but it is down right rude to customers.
Just wanted to add my 2 cents. I’ve been using dropship design for 2 years now and all i can say that they have helped me tremendously. I found their prices to be cheaper than any other dropshipper i found!
I purchased a store from Dropship Design about 2 years ago. It help me to put my own product without paying expensive price to build my own site. It also gave me the change to sale other products. I don’t get the profit immedietly but the more I learn about dropshipping the more I understand how this company works. The Customer Service don’t have 1-800 no (you have to pay) but with ticketing system I always get answer promptly.
I’ve been a member for a little while and really don’t have much trouble. They need to work on their SEO for individual sites though.
Thank you for answering the questions I didn’t have to ask, I’ve been to dropship design several time reading about their site and what they can do for me, now I see their intentions are to sell dropshipping websites. The old saying “if it looks too good to be true, it probably is”.

The first thing to know about DSD is that they claim to have over 1 million products but if you download all of the datafeeds, it is a little over 300,000, many of which have no inventory or have no information concerning how much inventory exists. Perhaps 100,000 products that have some inventory data once you eliminate the duplicate UPCs. The same product can be on the website at multiple prices depending on supplier.
You can set your own prices but only on either a mass cost-plus basis or product-by-product.
You can have coupons but they are general checkout coupons for 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, or 25% off. You can’t do anything creative.
On the page where you enter page customizations, it executes anything in the top banner area or left column which can blow out your site. This is a serious design flaw which prevents you from fixing your own page or isolating the offending code.
You can’t get tracking information from them about your site visitors so you don’t know where people are going and what they are looking at or for which would be of great use for marketing. If you try to use an external script like addfreestats, it may blow up your site. I wrapped everything I added or wanted to add to my content into html and body tags and tested them before individually and collectively inserting them and they worked fine. When I added code snippets to my content that worked fine elsewhere, the site blew up.
The helpdesk staff was illogical and dishonest hen I addressed this with them. The non sequitur that because I was apparently the first one to have problems out of their many thousands of customers that the problem was mine. Argumentum ad populum. Someone is always going to be the first to find a defect and they should be happy with my willingness to help them cure the defect and perfect their code. No competent IT professional starts with the assumption that their work is perfect. I’m disappointed with their attitude which conveys a lack of willingness to improve.
I wouldn’t worry too much about eBay. The seller-hostile rules changes have made it a less useful site for the time being. If you want to use eBay, you don’t have to use the handful of cheesy layouts DSD offers.
If you keep an eye on inventory levels from day to day or week to week from the datafeeds and try to geta sense of what is moving from that despite not having replenishment information, either very little is moving or they’re using OPEC’s methods. Another reason to want to see what pages prospective customers are viewing.
Do not even talk to the morons who call you up afterwards trying to sell you useless stuff you don’t need. Hammertap and Terapeak are much better deals.
I would be much happier if the customize content page did not execute the top banner/left column or any other custom code. This would enable me to identify and either correct or remove any problem code myself.
I have been with dropshipdesign for 5 months now and they have been pretty good. I have only one or two problems. The big one is I have had zero 0000 sales so far. I have done what they asked but still no sales. My URL is to long and I am changing it. This should not cause me to not sell anything. Should it? My current problem is I can not get thru to my site (9-20-09). I get the oops sign. Any comments on sales?
Well, you need to make sure you are getting visitors. If there’s no visitors, there is no sale. If you are getting visitors, and still not getting sales, then you might want to take a look at the prices you are charging, both product price and shipping price.
Your URL is a too long, I must say though.
Alright, I’ve had enough of Joe and his DSD Dropship Design website scam. I am a current owner of an online mall named “YandREnterprise.com” and extremely upset at this point. When I first joined about 5 years ago, Everything seemed fine. I bought the package deal and in the contract it stated that after the first year my yearly fees for maintenance were $49.99. This year they decided to up my yearly fee price up to $69.99 without any prior notification about such changes. I reluctantly refused to pay the new fee which I was not notified about nor was it stated in my contract. However, since I already had some orders in transition, if I lost my site, I would not only look bad to my customers but to my Affiliate Links Program Associates. So, I gave in pure preassure and paid the darn $69.99 but deep down inside I knew I shouldn’t have. Mind you, this fee to my understanding was for the full year of March 2009-March2010. Well, here we are today September 26th, 2009. I went to log in to my website back office after reading a disturbing email from DSD Dropshipping Department. Yet again he is at it again trying to squeeze every dime from his loyal customers and affiliates. Today I received an email stating that unless I pay $29.99 a month my online mall will be shut down on October 20th,2009. However, I went to log in and guess what…I can’t log in. Non of my store links work…funny how they left just the home page to make it look like it’s still there. But when I clicked on any store item, the link was dead. Perhaps it’s downtime and again without any notice from their end. YES, they want you to pay for everything!!! From their phone service…I never gave in to that one! To fake website submissions! Now they are claiming that my 6 months free submission trial is over and threatening my business and online presense. HA! Take the MF thing down and don’t contact me againg is what I want to say to them. But, of course when I tried to log in and send them a “ticket” to ask them what that email and the monthly fees were about, when it was to my understanding that I paid $70.00 for them to host my site for one full year.??? Go figure! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A DROPSHIPING SITE STAY AWAY FROM DSD DROPSHIPPING!!! I will be contacting my lawyer about this company and if you are a recent victim of this company please contact rippoffreport.com and file a report and I suggest you speak with a lawyer. I thought everything was fine until today!!! Looks like they didn’t even wait until October 20th to take the store down. The following email was sent to me just Sept. 21, 2009 only 5 days ago!
Dear customer,
Your 6 months free hosting is almost over. Please take the time to login to your account and accept to continue hosting your site for $29.99 per month. If we do not hear from you, then we will close your website and you will not be charged anything.
Your membership will be automatically terminated on October 20, 2009 if you do not accept the monthly fee
Yes I DO KEEP VERY GOOD RECORDS OF EMAILS AND at this time nothing will give me more pleasure than to take this dirty scum bag to court. That’s if he didn’t fleet the country with my money and everyone elses.
Latest on DSD from my end. To my surprise I was able to log in the next day to my site. I sent them an email in regards to them changing my contract agreement with no notice or short notice and reminded them that I paid my $70 dollars fee for the year. That was to include website hosting and maintenance to my knowledge.
They have agreed to let me finish my year without the monthly fees. “Think they read this post”? Maybe or maybe not. However, that doesn’t change the fact that they are trying to make out in every way possible way by nickle and dimming people to death.
In high hope that DSD would improve their services to their members, I have come to realize this isn’t going to happen any time soon. I will for now finish my next 6 months I already paid for, but will close the store once my yearly term is up.
While it hasn’t been all bad with DSD it definitively hasn’t been all that great either. Save your money…find a manufacturing company or two that will work directly with you. Most will even drop ship for you. Take full control of your store and your business!
I started out with DropShip Design. I knew that it wouldn’t be easy just startihng out. There are two concerns that I had with this company. 1) You are not told IN THE BEGINNING that the ‘One Time Fee’ is going to turn into a $29.99 a month fee the longer you are ‘entrenched’ with the company. 2) I’m wasn’t fully impressed with the ‘great marketing offer’ to submit my website to a bunch of websites that NOBODY CARED ABOUT!
I’m NOW in the market to sell one or two items online. I don’t need a “ga-billion” products–looks as if liquor, tobacco, pornography and scooters are ‘recession proof’ right now.
dropship design is an out and out fraud, their no monthly fee advertisemnt is only to lure you in after you pay them for your site they then threaten to shut you down if you do not pay their ” new business model plN) THE REQUIRES A 29.99 A MONTH FEE. THE PRODUCTS ARE SUBSTANDARD, BROKEN IF THEY ARRIVE AT ALL AND YOUR STUCK DEALING WITH THE CUSTOMER. CHECK OUT DROPSHIPDESIGN COMPLAINTS ON GOOGLE THERE ARE TONS OF THEM
Follow up on dropship design. for those of you who have had any problems with this company I am organizing a group of individuals who want to get involved in a class action law suite against this company. too many honest people lloking to subsidize their income have been ruined by there cheats. if you are a victum contact me at annandrick.austin@ymail.com
try this site about dropshipdesign it says it all

I have checked out many drop ship companies and just heard about DropShip Design. I figured they were scam artists too and now confirm it. The only real legit company so far is Worldwide Brands. Real drop shippers. Qualified wholesale suppliers. No middlemen 8.2 million products. Finding quality Dropship, Light Bulk and Volume Wholesalers who work with online sellers is their job, and they have been doing it for over a decade. They do the Product Sourcing so you don’t have to!
I started a website with dropship design this year and got everything and made at least $250 by now and this is my 3rd month with it up and running and I get at least 50 visitors a day!!! It is a great place to start. Is it easy?? NO WAY!!! Since ebay has included even more fee’s now you really have to work at it and marketing is the key! I dont even use ebay with my website anymore its pointless now.
if you don’t have no experience in wholesale, marketing, then i would not suggest this! I would suggest about 50 ebooks on marketing alone. Alot of stuff dropship design offer to you for a price you can do yourself like submitting your website to search engines ,add your own perks to your website to make it look more professional.I created a custom logo for my page included some cool things on the side because you can enter code on your page if your into all that.Get some affiliate links and code from other companies to look more real which will lead to some money in itself eventually. But these are major things to lead to some success.
Is dropship design support that great NO!
Can you customize the website fully the way you want NO! but you can buy a template to have a better layout once again these are things that help!!
you cant expect to get rich off of this type of thing nor can you expect for them to hold your hand all the way you have to do some work matter of fact you have to do allot with any new website you start.Go crazy on the social networks with promoting most social networks will let you promote your business for free. The major thing with dropship design that make me say its worth it in a way is that you can add your own products and for me that is taking me to another level with income and customer’s, so even if you don’t like there prices there product’s hey find a group of suppliers you do like with great prices and put em on your website and promote them on places like craiglist you can forget about ebay. That’s just a big hungry money machine now!But dropship design have partnered with a company that allows you to ship to over 255 countries. This is something new they added but its more helpful and can make you more money. not rich just some more money. So is it a scam no! its just not as easy as they promote it to be.I would suggest you do all the reading on marketing, affiliate marketing, find some more wholesale suppliers that you can add on your site to give it an edge, and you should be ok but do your research first people you cant go into a battle with no armor! and knowledge of business is your armor!
I subscribed to the 2nd level months ago, and am still trying to get someone from DD to refund my money as their products are crap, and expensive crap at that, and there’s very few of them.
I’ve spoken to some staff in US, but they say they can’t contact UK and can’t refund my money.
Seems like all they do in the UK is take your money and that’s the last you’ll hear from them - oh, other than to keep spamming you with their ads!!!!!!!!
Thanks for all your comments guys. Even though this is a fairly old post and dropship design did not get a very good review on it. From the minamial good comments it gets here vs the number of bad comments; I think it is fair to say that it is a fairly bad dropshipping company. Maybe the article was even a little too generous or they have gotten a lot worst over the years.
I really thank you guys for sharing your personal experiences. Because of your contribution I have taken off the Dropship Design off the list of legit dropshippers on this blog. And I think it is also important that you share your stories to get the word out so we can keep those bad dropshippers from destroying the image of this industry.
