One major advantage to selling on the internet as oppose to having a business on corner of a street is your ability to sell to many more people.
My motivation for this post comes from seeing numerous dropshippers say things like, “I want to find a dropshipper from the UK ” or “I’m only interested in selling to the UK”. It shouldn’t matter where the dropshipper is based as long as they are able to ship to your target market for a reasonable price. Similarly you shouldn’t restrict your sales to a specific geographic location when you can sell worldwide. There are plenty of dropshippers out there that are not based in your home country but will shipped to your home country or world-wide so to speak. Some dropshippers will even allow you to choose the currency you want to use to conduct transactions, so there isn’t a point to closing the door on dropship companies simply because their not based out of a specific country. Having these personal restrictions omits one of the biggest advantages for having an internet business. Sometimes the most lucrative segments are unexpected, so keep an open mind and sell to the world.
Frankly, I don’t quite understand why some dropshipper will restrict their sales and suppliers to only their home country, though I find this type of behavior from common with dropshippers from the UK. If anyone could shed some light to why you think this is the case, please share.
