E-Commerce spending numbers for the Christmas season are in and, not surprisingly the uptrend continues. Though falling short of original estimates, purchases via desktop devices for the first 52 days of November – December period increased 10% from the same period last year to $42.8 billion.
Here’s a chart showing online spending between the years 2010 – 2013 on Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Green Monday. For those that don’t know, Green Monday refers to the closest Monday with at least 10 days from Christmas.
I believe it’s safe to assume that this trend will likely continue over the next few years. Especially with all the exciting development and innovations in the industry, I have no doubt that E-Commerce will become further integrated into people’s life. One of the coolest recent developments is the Amazon Prime Air Program, which plans to use drones to deliver packages! However, I get this feeling that people might try to knock them out of the sky for fun… and perhaps to steal the parcel as well.
Anyway, I am going to keep this post short before I get off topic. I hope you all enjoyed your holidays and let me know where you guys think the E-Commerce industry is trending.
