The key to effective blogging is to have good content and a content promotion strategy, because having a business blog for the sake of having one is not enough.

1.) Post Lengthier Articles
Forget about posting those 200-300 words articles. Search engines likes comprehensive articles, rich in instructive quality content. Studies have shown that articles over 1,000 words in length tend to rank better. In fact, a study conducted by serpIO goes as far as to suggest that for an article to rank in the top 10 position for a major keyword, requires at least 2,000 words.
Although Google and Bing most likely don’t determine the rank of webpages based on the number of words they have, articles that are longer tend to be more comprehensive and are of higher quality. So if you are aiming high for a competitive keyword, it might just be wise to invest some time into writing 1 or 2 lengthier and well-researched articles on the topic rather than many unauthoritative articles.
2.) Publish Content More Frequently
For you to implement a truly successful blogging strategy, blogging should be more than a hobby. You cannot simply write about whatever that comes to your mind whenever you like. It has to be systematic.
Statistics from Hubspot show that organizations that publish 16 or more blog entries each month get 3.5 times more traffic than organizations that post less than 4 blogposts per month. Here are some reasons why posting content more frequently has an impact on a website’s online traffic.

We hear about external link building or getting links from external sites all the time. But much less frequently do we hear about internal link building that involves building links that go from one page on your domain to another one on the same domain.

However, be sure to not create internal links for the sake of internal links. Links should not look spammy and you should never mindlessly link to your product pages in an attempt to make a sale. Effective internal links should improve the user’s navigation experience by referencing relevant or related content together so that they are easier to find. 4.) Think of the Reader and Provide Value
Take some time to consider the question you are answering for your readers prior to writing your content. It sounds basic, but unfortunately it’s often vaguely understood and frequently overlooked. In essence, you want to frame structure your article in such a way that it will answer the questions people are interested in.
To illustrate, if your E-Commerce business involves selling cosmetics that are free of harmful chemicals, don’t write about “Joe’s Chemical Free Lipstick” or “Our Chemical Free Lipsticks”. Instead, write an article about “Harmful Chemicals to Avoid When Buying Lipsticks”. People are much more likely to be interested and click on “Harmful Chemicals to Avoid When Buying Lipstick”, despite the fact that both articles may have very similar content. You could even name drop your lipstick brand as a brand that doesn’t use any of the harmful chemicals in the article, if you like.
The point is to frame your article in a way that the reader can immediately identify it as useful and relevant to their needs.
5.) Refine your Focus Keywords
Identify keywords and key phrases that you are targeting in your articles and refine them. Use words and lingo commonly used in the industry. Brainstorm different words or phrases you can use rather than using the same keyword or phrase over and over again.
For example, instead of using “chemical free lipsticks” again and again in your article, trying using some of its synonyms throughout your blogpost, such as “organic lipsticks”, “Non-toxic lipsticks” or “natural lipsticks”. This will allow your article to hit more long tail keywords within your target audience and signal to search engines that you have expertise in the topic.
